Glossary: Relative Running Economy

The relative running economy is a simple measure for how many heart beats are used to cover a specific distance. To be precise, the value corresponds to the number of kilometers that can be covered with 100,000 additional heartbeats (compared to the resting heart rate).

Heart beats [-] = (Avg. heart rate [bpm] - Resting heart rate [bpm]) * Time [min]
RRE = 100.000 / (Heart beats [-] / Distance [km])
